Well, I said more frequent, and so here I am. Bit less of a gap, but similar babble!
I've been back in Melbourne a few weeks now. I've taken some photos and met heaps of new interesting people - which has been great. But today, I'd like to talk a bit about inspiration... It's a hard thing to pin down or explain really. I think coffee helps as a start, for me anyway, and where better in Australia! Now I know some people say do this or that everyday or always do these half dozen things to start each day. People I admire like Chase Jarvis and James Altucher have these lists, and I respect that. There are apps like Habit List and Teux Deux exactly for this purpose - is that the key? Is routine necessary or is life meant to be a little haphazard and not lived by lists? James altucher often talks about the idea muscle and essentially giving it a daily workout. The notion that you create ideas no matter how wacky or out-there and thus in time improving the ability to create ideas.
For me inspiration is a little bit elusive, but that's also kind of exciting. I think in Melbourne there's always something to stimulate the mind- and not just taking liquid form in an espresso cup. I think one of the keys to creating ideas is combining things that perhaps don't belong together. Reading or watching something you would not normally can jar the brain into a new space, as can being in a new location with new people, new vistas!
I may soon be in a new location, I'm planning this now over, of course, a cup of coffee :)
